Coinbase has made yet another exciting announcement, this time revealing that 4 new tokens will be listed on Coinbase Pro which can be seen as a gateway to inclusion for all users.
According to the announcement made on the Coinbase Blog, DAI, Golem (GNT), Maker (MKR) and Zilliqa (ZIL) tokens are about to be launched on Coinbase Pro.
The tokens in question will become immediately tradable on Coinbase Pro in select regions, dependent apparently on legal concerns over specific jurisdictions.
GNT and DAI will be available in the US, but not New York, in the UK, the EU, Canada, Singapore, and Australia. MKR and ZIL will be added to Coinbase Pro in the UK, EU, Canada, Singapore, and Australia only.
As per previous Coinbase announcements, these jurisdictions could be extended at a later date and a roll out for the main coinbase.com platform and mobile applications could also be added later.
Coinbase qualifies this move as a part of its promise to keep listing new ERC20 tokens on its trading platform. Tokens listed such as DAI, MKR, and ZIL are all ERC-20 coins. However, GNT is an Ethereum-based token, but it’s not an official ERC-20 coin. The new tokens will offer a lot of features to users however there are still some additions that have been left out for now.
The announcement is not exactly without controversy, with many in the crypto community actively asking the exchange to list Ripple’s XRP token, with still others contesting the suggestion across crypto Twitter.
